Nollywood recorded a ‘breakthrough’ last Monday, when one of its stars, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, made her US TV debut as she starred in the VH1 American drama television series “Hit the Floor.”
Omotola made a five-second appearance mid-way in the drama series when she waltzed pop star Akon who also made a star guest appearance. Omotola character in the series was Akon’s date for the event they attended in the show. Akon, however, had an earlier appearance where he gave out his diamond earpiece to charity while flirting with one of the series’ regulars -Kyle - played by Katherine Bailess.
In her five-second appearance, her character was complimented for ‘looking beautiful’ by Kyle while walking down with Akon.
Even though she was granted a limited role for the show, Omotola’s starring in the series further exposes the Nollywood movie landscape.
Earlier this year, she was in California for the shoot of the series . Starring in the fifth episode titled ‘Keep away‘ of the first season, “Hit The Floor” is an American drama television series which follows Ahsha, a girl who joins the NBA cheer-leading team, the Los Angeles Devil Girls, unaware of the treacherous and tempting world that follows. The show debuted on May 27, 2013 and can be accessed on VH1, depending on your cable operator.
