At a press conference in Madrid (Saturday), the Italian praised Ronaldo, stating that he’s relaxed over the Portuguese winger’s future, despite speculations linking him away from the Bernabeu.
“Everyone knows that he is a superstar and a great player,” he said.
“The most important thing for the club is that a player of his quality shows the utmost professionalism.
“That is good, especially for the young players who can see a world-class player with that attitude.
“I am not responsible for the renewal of his contract, but it won’t be a problem.”
As for Gonzalo Higuain, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal, the manager did not go as far as giving the Argentinean assurance for the future but stressed that he would have the chance to impress him.
“I have spoken to the player but it was a private conversation,” said Ancelotti.
“He is currently a Real Madrid player and I am happy to have him here.”
However, when questioned on Gareth Bale, who has long been linked with the club he said: “I am happy with the squad and I don’t want to talk about other players out of respect for those who are here.”
He did send Tito Vilanova, who has stepped down from his position as manager of Barcelona, a message of support at the opening of his press conference.
“I’d like to let him know that he has the whole squad and the club behind him,” Ancelotti said.
