A three-year-old girl and an unidentified man yesterday died while 14 others were seriously wounded in a lone accident which occurred at Onipepeye village in Obafemi Owode local council of Ogun State.

The accident, which occurred at about 6 p.m. involved an Ijebu Ode-bound 14-seater commercial Mazda bus with registration number (LAGOS) XW 274 EPE. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident also said the bus lost one of its tyres due to over-speeding and somersaulted at the Onipepeiye Village.

Akinbiyi further stated that the vehicle took off from the popular Kuto Garage in Abeokuta with 14 passengers before the tragic accident.
He also explained that the wife of the Ogun State Governor, Olufunsho, was among the sympathisers who rescued the other 14 victims, including the driver of the bus who all sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.

TRACE PRO also said that the 14 persons that were injured had been taken to the State Hospital, Ijaye while the corpse of the two that died had also been deposited at the same hospital.
